Room 716B Rhodes Hall (12ft x 14ft) – PCR reaction and Radioactivity lab containing: one Packard TriCard model 2200CA liquid scintillation counter; one FujiFilm model BAS-1800 phosphoimager; one Packard model 307 oxidizer; one Packard Cyclone Storagephosphoimager; two FisherBrand PCR Workstations; one Revco Ultralow temperature freezer; one ABI model 6100 Nucleic Acid PrepStation; one Nikon E400 upright epifluorescent microscope; one Eppendorf model 5451D microcentrifuge.

Room 716C Rhodes Hall (12ft x 20ft) – DNA extraction and BSL2 microbiology lab containing: one Baker Class II biosafety cabinet; one NuAire Class II biosafety cabinet; one Napco model 5400 water jacketed CO2 incubator; one FisherBrand clinical centrifuge; one Eppendorf model 5810R refrigerated bench top preparative centrifuge; one water bath; two Newbrunswick model C1 shakers; one Newbrunswick model C24 heated shaker; one Tekma model TM130PB ultrasonic probe; one UltraTurax T8 Dispergierstation; one Nikon TS100F inverted microscope; one chemical fume hood.

Room 716D Rhodes Hall (10ft x 6ft) – Microscopy lab containing: one Nikon C1 Confocal laser scanning microscope with blue, green, and red lasers; one Nikon TS2000 inverted epifluorscent microscope; one Nikon E600 upright epifluorescent microscope; one Spot CCD camera.

Room 716E, F Rhodes Hall (10ft x 8ft) – Dedicated temperature control rooms.

Room 716G Rhodes Hall (15ft x 13ft) – Bioreactor pilot lab containing: twenty-four custom designed bioreactors with assorted pumps, aerators, and timers; one Challenge 8-position respirometer; four Orion model 720A multimeters and associated probes.

Room 716 Rhodes Hall (27ft x 27ft) – Wet chemistry lab containing: one ABI 7500 Real time PCR System; two ABI 2700 thermocyclers; one ABI 2400 thermocycler; one ABI 9700 GeneAmp Station; one Transgenomic WAVE HPLC DNA fragment analyzer; one Genosys model 10 UV/Vis spec; two FisherBrand hybridization ovens; one Baker Class II biosafety cabinet; one Revco ultralow temperature freezer; two Econoline recirculating water baths; BioRad gel electrophoresis equipment; two analytical balances; two chemical balances; one Boekel Slide Moat; two Hach DR2500 Spectrophotometers; one Beckman model TJ-6 refrigerated benchtop preparative centrifuge; one custom-designed 3ft x 3ft x 18ft bioaersol generation and testing chamber; two chemical fume hoods; two LabLine Max/Rotator shaker platforms.

Adjoining the laboratory, Dr. Oerther’s students occupy Room 712 Rhodes Hall (20ft x 15ft) for office space containing: twelve lap-top computers (P3 and P4 Wintel machines); one PowerMac dual G5 workstation; one Linux workstation; one Lexmark Color networked laser printer.  Across the hallway from the laboratory, Dr. Oerther’s staff occupy Room 713 Rhodes Hall (14ft x 14ft) for office space.  Dr. Oerther has a personal office located in Room 746 Engineering Research Center (10ft x 15ft).

Dr. Oerther employees a full-time laboratory manager to oversee the research facilities.  Additional support staff are available from the Department including two full time shop technicians as well as grant managers and accountants.
